| denkstatt participated in the Vienna City Marathon 2010

In implementation of its corporate sustainability program, denkstatt organized the participation of its employees in the Vienna City Marathon 2010. We believe that the best approach to protecting the health of our employees goes through sports and therefore we encourage their participation in mass events.
The Bulgarian office demonstrated top performance – Boyan and Klimentina ran the whole distance, in 3:25:33 and 4:57:09 correspondingly – both of them achieved personal best times. Additionally, Boyan was the best rated Bulgarian participant in the marathon. Ward participated in one of the two relays of our denkstatt GmbH colleagues. In a whole, the denkstatt group had 10 participants.
Georgi (doctor and first time marathoner) and Velislava (logistic support and photographer; a “future” participant) also joined us for the event.

| denkstatt conducted a corporate green procurement training for Siemens

In early March, we held the first corporate green procurement training in Bulgaria and helped Siemens make its first step towards selecting suppliers of products and services based on environmental criteria.
In Western Europe the concept of green procurement is driven primarily by institutions and local authorities - in Bulgaria, foreign business is first because it is trying to apply good corporate practices in the country.

| WASTEKIT starts

 The kick-off meeting of WASTEKIT was held in Marrakesh, Morocco on 13-15 January 2010. WASTEKIT stands for WASTE management focussing on: Knowledge and Integration to create Transnational economic development. It is a project financed by the Regionс of Knowledge initiative of the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme.

| denkstatt conducts an inventory of the real emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases in Bulgaria

Since January, 2010 denkstatt has been commissioned by the Executive Environmental Agency to implement research on the following subject: "Study for determining the quantity of actual emissions of fluorinated greenhouse gases (HFCs, PFCs and SF6) in Bulgaria and methods for their calculation". To fulfill the commitments of Bulgaria to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) the Executive Environmental Agency (EEA) must annually conduct an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions according to sources and absorbers under the IPCC Revised Guide from 1996 and IPCC Good Practices Guide from 2000. The results of the inventory are reported both to the UNFCCC Secretariat and to the European Commission regarding Decision No 280/2004/EC concerning a mechanism for monitoring Community greenhouse gas emissions and for implementing the Kyoto Protocol. So far, the inventory of greenhouse gases lacks data for the produced and used quantities of F-gases in Bulgaria, which is necessary for calculating the actual emissions of the country. Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) were classified as greenhouse gases by the Kyoto Protocol. They have the highest global warming potential, compared to CH4, N2O and CO2. The focus on them is a result of their increased use as substitute for ozone-depleting substances during the past decade.
