Environmental management
The environment is one of the factors most dynamically influencing changes in the world of modern business. It also generates as well as profoundly influences many of today’s social problems, making environmental management and social design underlying concepts of sustainable development.
Environmental management is relevant to every business – regardless of its type or size. Principles for implementing sound environmental management have been developed at the global level, which is a sign of their importance. Environmental management often serves as a platform for the development of a corporate-wide sustainability program and a starting point for managing projects that result from the transition.
Environmental Management Systems
Implementing environmental management systems is one of our core businesses, as managing effectively is one of the first steps to achieving corporate sustainability.
An Environmental Management System (EMS) is a tool for managing the environmental impacts resulting from an organization’s operations. It provides a structured approach to planning and implementing environmental protection measures. Companies have a twofold profit that results from using an EMS: (1) cost savings through improved resource efficiency and (2) reputation strengthening.
An optimization of the environment related operational processes (production, waste management, energy management, sewage management, ecological procurement, environmental legislation requirements) is achieved through the introduction of ISO 14001 or EMAS.
Risk Management
Risk management determines the extensiveness of the existing strategic and operational risks and then evaluates and reduces the most significant risks.
The method that we utilize is based around personal protection, environmental dangers and disturbances to local communities. Through intensive integration of operational staff, risk aspects are determined and computed into risk scenarios. The specific feature of the applied method is the possibility to make different risks objectively comparable.
Environmental Legal Compliance
Compliance with legislation is not a question of choice, but rather a fundamental condition for any organization’s “license to operate” and often times the basis for future initiatives.
European legislation, increasingly being transposed in Bulgaria, is complicated and poses a daunting challenge to most enterprises. We work with companies with varying degrees of legal compliance complexity not simply to meet their obligations with minimal resources, but to turn these requirements into opportunities.
Ecoprofit program
ECOprofit is a program designed to help participating companies reduce costs while at the same time taking measures to protect the environment and company revenues.
ECOprofit is an introductory module in environmental management. To date the program has been successfully carried out in many cities and regions throughout Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ukraine, Brazil, India, and Romania.
While the specific content of modules varies, the focus of ECOprofit is on preventing the consumption of energy and the production of waste.
Companies participating in ECOprofit learn how to systematically identify, plan, and implement measures that reduce expenses and environmental impacts.
